We pride ourselves on our extensive knowledge when it comes to the vast array of roof structures and coverings out there these days. We specialise in all aspects of re-roofing using varied materials including concrete tiles, clay tiles, asphalt shingles, wooden shingles and of course natural slate and we have a wealth of expertise in installing all of these.

How long does a Roof last?

The life expectancy for a tiled roof is marketed as a 50 year roof. However, the underlayment (roofing felt) and batten system, even if good material and the proper installation procedure was used, will not last that long and will have to be replaced generally  around 30 to 40 years. Many tiled roof underlayments and battens must be replaced much sooner because of the inferior materials and installation procedures used - sometimes within the first five to eight years.

The tiles also lose colour and some surface texture after several years. If your roof is 50 years or older or you are having issues with water entering your property you really should consider getting your roof renewed. We will send out our highly qualified and specialised roofing team to inspect the sub-structure of the roof to ensure that it is solid, safe and capable of carrying the weight of your new roof.

Any remedial work required will be done when the old roof covering has been removed to ensure that the substructure of your roof is fit for purpose. As soon as you entrust M&K to carry out the re-roofing of your home you can sit back and relax as our specialist roofers will strip back your old roof, carry out any remedial work required and then rebuild your roof efficiently and with the minimum of inconvenience to you and your family, the end result is that you will have a new crown for your castle guaranteed to keep the elements at bay for many, many years to come.
